Canon (unlike Nikon and others) doesn’t include the shutter count in the data that is included in EXIF, so aps that read this data to determine properties of the exposure can’t see it - you need a special ap to read it. I have used the free one Paul suggested and then paid $1.99 for a paid ap to check it as well before selling the camera so I could properly represent the count (BTW, they did match).

Thanks for the info on the Canon EOS Digital Info. It worked perfect for what I was looking for.

I use Picasa and it displays the shutter count for every photo in it's files regardless of which camera I use. I use Nikon but I assume it would do the same with Canon.

Stored in it's files is correct. But if is not imported to Pacasa yhe total number is inacurate. I bought my Canon 7d refurbished by Canon and the "count" on the first shot imported to picasa was 1. Aa a refurb theb the real could not have been 0 when I bought the camera

None of the ideas presented here help to get the shutter count on an EOS 80D. Anymore ideas? The only way it appears to get a shutter count on an 80D is to send it to Canon. That is costly, besides being ridiculous. I’ll just settle for taking pics & not be concerned with it!

Actually, if you look at page 1, Paul (Chgcanon) posted a link to a site. There is no reason to return the camera to Canon. I have gotten the shutter count from several paid aps (although it cost something like $1.99), and they both agreed. I would gladly post the links, but I no longer have them, BUT, I found them both from a simple Google search. What has been repeatedly said is that you cannot get it from aps that use the EXIF data to list the properties of the camera, lens, exposure parameters, etc. such as Picasa. (and I see now that the OP has gotten the needed data from the site Paul suggested).

I don't think this is correct. I have a refurb D500, a refurb D610 and a used D850. I checked the shutter count on each of them with Picasa as soon as I bought them. The counts were +or- 1400 on the D500, +or- 2200 on the D610 and 4 on the D850.
Maybe your 7d was a dropped demo? That's what I'm assuming the case was with the D850. It was absolutely pristine when I got it, like it had never been touched by human hands.

This works on both my 7D and T3. The one I had been using seems to have forgotten how to do that, so I'm using this one now. Thanks!
