Here, in Oz, Christmas comes in the hottest part of the year so we have to improvise. With half the state burned out, and continuing to burn, it's pretty difficult to round up six white boomers so we have to use a boat for the sleigh. A tradition that started almost 40 years ago and continues today sees Santa board a boat and visit a number of jetties around the western side of Lake Macquarie, New South Wales. At each stop lollies are handed out to the kids, and to some of the bigger kids. In between stops carols are played at great volume and lakeside householders show their approval by flicking lights on and off. The tradition began with a local show boat doing the rounds as a way to thank the lake people for their patronage. This boat has been retired for some time now so the local Rotary club took up the challenge and keeps the tradition alive.
To all, wherever you are, my best wishes for the festive season and the year to come.
Looks like it is "Oh, what fun, it is to ride .." what an awesome time.
Is that you in the last photograph? Are you the third from the left?
Happy Shooting!

Whether Santa uses a sleigh with reindeer or a boat, he's using what's necessary for the climate. Thank you for sharing your images with us! Stay safe and try to have a merry Christmas.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to those on the water, and in the hot country!
Merry Christmas. It's all about something different than Santa and reindeer, anyway.

Well, I guess that proves the magic of Santa. The man gets the job done!
I'm surprised Santa isn't in shorts! Nice post. Thank you.

Newport Beach, California has an annual Christmas boat parade in the harbor. They are lighted like houses.
