Questions with no answers,,,, yet.
Am left with some questions on this photo, and I think that those questions may be obvious to those that are also interested here.
Just stating a fact not trying to be rude; the best way to get an answer is to ask the question. The question is not so obvious to me.
Looks to me that it is a scanned negative. Thus, exposure/processing would be the area of the question. I'd expose for the shadows and process for the highlights.

The photo was with b/w Scala slide film. Other than being cropped, this is the outcome. My questions pertain to the object, and not of exposure, and or processing. It is what the camera captured.

I can think of a lot of questions. First would be why you post a question that isn't. Second would be why post such a poorly composed picture with no explanation? Third would be.....well they just keep coming!!

Question: Is that a duck biting at the back of the left cherub?
Answer: I do not think it is a duck as the upper part of what would be its bill is smaller than the lower part of what would be its bill.
Question: Is that a belly button on the cherub?
Answer: No, unless cherubs are anatomically different from humans.
Did I guess the questions correctly?
Good for you MichaelH, your the first to understand and realize what my questions are about, at least two of them, without me giving you a clue what they might be. There are more questions though, why would the maker of this object make the Cherub on the left a bit more chubbier than the other Cherub?,, and what's with that creepy looking guy below the Cherubs doing?? Most important is,, what's this object doing in a CHURCH!?,, and lastly, what would go through a youngsters mind upon observing it?,, Just wondering,,, along with my lingering thoughts, malvin
Attached this to the wrong post.
Swan's or dragons?. There is more above that was cropped off. I'm going out on a limb and guessing that this is maybe the base of a lamp. And there could be three churn's around this base. I couldn't make out any weird man, but maybe it is a fancy decorative "leg" or "foot".
I'm assuming that you did not take the original photo, or it was so long ago that you don't remember.
I'm wondering whose the daddy?
The sculptor's version of Adam and Eve in the Garden?
Hello Mr. ImTrying,, Your assumption is wrong, I took the picture. Yes it's cropped. The top was uninteresting, as well as the bottom, it was not a lamp. It was a very large (whatever you want to call it), standing in an old vacant church. I am surprised that you could not see the creepy old man's face just below the cherubs. Cheers, malvin

IMHO, the left cherub is a male and the right one is a female (and maybe pregnant). I think the object (can't tell what the rest of it is like) is like a Christian totem pole--intended to tell a story. The photo has a slight tilt to the left.
The bird is a stork. The clue is the bundle (legend) over the body of the stork. Cherubs are a class of angel and so should not have belly buttons as they were not born but created. Agree with the male and female. Did the top look like baptismal font (basin for water)? Not surprising was in a church if it is a baptismal font.
Not sure about the symbolism of the face at the bottom, may represent the devil in the temptation of all souls.

I'm surprised you're surprised it was in a church.
