Last summer when my extended family was staying at a timeshare, my older daughter set the oven to broil in order to heat up leftover pizza right before we left the unit. Alas, she forgot about it. My spouse was in another room reading when the smoke alarm began to blare. She rushed out to see a lot of smoke coming from the oven, which she had not used. The pizza was so carbonized that at first, she didn't know what it was. The unit was aired out pretty well by the time we returned.
I used to joke when my Daughter was younger that she used the Smoke Alarm
as an Oven Timer.

Actually, what you have there is the remnants of an asteroid. I'd send to N.A.S.A. for evaluation. Good job you didn't try to eat it.
We had a baked potato roll to the back of the oven one time.
I've no idea how many "bakes" it went through.
It never smoked, but definitely charcoal when we discovered it.

I once put a chicken in the oven to roast and promptly forgot about it until the next morning. It wasn't charcoal, just very flat, about 3/4" top to bottom. I wish I had taken a photo, it was barely recognizable.
I am glad you explained that. I thought it was meteorite.
