Good day to you! I use the 5D Mark IV to shoot, among other things, Soccer, Gymnastics, and Basketball. The camera's ability to deliver beautiful results, even at higher ISO's required by such poorly lit venue's as gyms and gymnastic competitions, is what sold me on it. I really love the combination of this camera and the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM.
No complaints at all, except when I do something stupid!

Best wishes and good luck with your selection!

Mike

I need some feedback. I currently use a Canon 7d and really like it but its getting old. I was waiting to get get a 7D Mark iii, but no such luck. Right now alot of folks have the 5D Mark IV on sale for $1999.00. Here is my question. The Canon 90D is the replacement for the 7D Mark ii. Anybody have dealings with the 5d IV and 90D or the 7D ii. I know that there are 3 totally different price points. Just looking for different view points than my own.

Thanks & Merry Christmas.

I will add that I shoot about everthing, Sports, Wildlife, Landscape, Street.

Midwest Photo Exchange (MPEX) has the MKIV for $1750 through tomorrow.
Enter DEALS2 in the appropriate box just before paying to get the $250 off.

I use a 5DIV and a 7DII and make the perfect pair, for me. The 7D gives me the extra 1.6 length for my long shots and my 5D his a wide angle us. The best part is in my hands the two cameras are the same. All you automatic controls are in the same place. Idon't have to thing what camera am I holding.

A few years ago, I placed my Canon EOS Rebel 2000 on the shelf. I ended up buying the 5D Mark II. It was a definite step up for me. A few years later, I bought the 5D Mark IV. Besides its hefty price tag, it really performed to my expectations. Even though I'm not a professional, it does suit my purposes. Now that the price of the Mark IV has dropped significantly, I'm inclined to believe that a Mark V may be on the horizon. As for its features, I can't even guess what it will have. As for the other models such as the 7D and the 90D I have never worked with either. Perhaps they are as great as others swear by.
May I offer a suggestion? If you are up for it, rent each model. Keeping the lenses constant, you may get a better feel for each body.

Happy Holidays!
Happy Shooting!

I currently shoot with a 77D and a 100-400 II. I shoot mainly wildlife. I was going to upgrade to the 90D but after reading several reviews of the 90D I was convinced the extra density of the sensor would cause more digital noise, especially in low light. Low light performance is what I am mainly wanting to upgrade. That caused me to consider the 5D Mark iv, especially now that it is under 2 grand. Then I came across the eos r . All confused now. I really don’t want to lose the crop factor reach unless I can make up for it by more heavily cropping the 5D Mark iv. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I recently purchased a 90D as a replacement for my 80D. I primarily shoot wildlife and have a canon 100-400 l lens with a canon 1.4 extender. Because I shoot wildlife mostly, a crop sensor gives me an effective advantage in magnification over full frame. I have had the camera for two months and am very happy with the results. The only complaint was an issue with video, which I do not do, but canon has rectified the problem with a firmware upgrade. I looked at mirror less but quiet frankly the camera body is to small when you us the longer lenses. I also was not excited about selling all of my canon gear to swap for Sony. Lots of good deals available right now. Good luck deciding!!

Hi Viewmaster, see my earlier post with the two photos attached. One shot at 5,000 ISO and the other at 6,500 ISO. See if that amount of noise is acceptable to you. They were both shot with 5D4 and canon 100-400 II f/4.5-5.6 lens at almost 200 yards away and cropped heavily.

Wow if those were shot at 5000 and 6500, yes that is very acceptable. Never even noticed noice on first one and second one only when you enlarge it. Don’t remember if you had the 1.4 tc on there or not but excellent shots. I have the original version of the 1.4 tc but hardly ever use it. Had thought about it being able to kind of make up for the crop factor, well almost.

I see the last file is 6.66mb was the original 30 mb or so? I don’t know how to correlate it but would that mean this shot is 1/5 of the original size? Don’t know if it works like that or not. By the way both are awesome shots.

By research and prior ownership, the 5D/IV is among the best cameras you can buy, without a second mortage on your outhouse.

I am a working professional and used Canon APC cameras through the 60. I first owned a Canon 5D MK II and LOVE the full frame. It captures more information on each frame. Since I shoot many performers on stage with long lenses and high ISO's ( 6400 ) my images do not show a great deal of noise. I also have a 6d MKII another great FF camera. Depending on how important the advantage of the increase of focal length because of the APC size offers and the increase in noise, should be important factors. I no longer own an APC format camera. Merry Christmas and good luck.

The photo of the Stratosphere was shot with a Sigma 140-600mm lens, the shot of Ben Vereen with a Canon 100-400mm.
