People complain about paying monthly. I am one of them, but in all honesty CS6 is now at least 6 years old and Photoshop has had many improvements. I know it's $10.99 a month. I'm retired but I look at it like this, $10.99 cost of 1-2 Starbucks Coffees or a couple bears. I can give that up, and that's how I justify the cost. Photography is my hobby and I want to make the best of it.

Does anyone know that photoshop cs6 stand alone is NOT compatible with Mac OS Catalina? I am reading conflicting things about this issue. I am thinking to buy standalone PS CS6 online, I found on Ebay.

No. Don’t bother! CS6 is ancient history. You need the very latest Photoshop CC 2020 to run on Catalina. CS 6 is no longer supported.

Straight, uncompromising response - No, CS6 stopped working when I upgraded to Catalina.
Painful, but true.
I've held one of my older Macs back from MacOS updates just so I could keep my old CS6.
I'm considering trying to partition my new 16" MBP (when it arrives next week) to permit running Mojave. What's the worst that can happen?
I just hate renting my software.

16” runs Catalina and future OS versions only, so I’m told.

I bought standalone software from Adobe from 1989 to 2015. The Creative Cloud experience is FAR better for me.

Less costly to stay current

Works with latest MacOS

Shorter learning curve due to “drip feed” improvements

Includes BOTH Lightroom CC AND Lightroom Classic CC AND Photoshop CC 2020 AND Bridge for $10/month

Can stop and restart subscription at will without issues

Hi Jbravi,
I'm not here to tell you which software to get but I do caution buying CS6 on eBay. I'd like to get a legal copy of the program myself but all I can find on eBay is programs that are supposed to be new with a serial number. The instructions say the serial number is automatically used during the install so YOU don't have to. I fell for this scam and soon had "nasty grams" from Adobe telling me I had illegal software on my computer. I may have never gotten the message if I had not kept the current version of Bridge but...??!! Anyway, good luck. Take care & ...
Hi Jbravi, br I'm not here to tell you which softw... (show quote)

Thank you. I just subscribed to PS and LR

I suppose you're right. If it produces an image of Jesus or Keith Richards, you can always sell it on eBay...

I am on Mojave having gone back from Catalina due to 32 and 64 bit problems. That may be cleared up by now and I may go back up to Catalina when I know the glitches are repaired.

Regarding CS6, I would go with a Photoshop 2020 subscription instead.

An option you might try is Photoshop Elements 2020 which has been on sale for about $60.

It opens my RAW files from my Nikons and Panasonic Lumix GX85.

I have both a subscription and Elements , but may drop my subscription after I am comfortable with Elements.

The attached file is from a RAW Nikon file processed in Elements and saved as a jpg.
