Here’s a good test. Warning. Only try this once:

After dinner, lock both your spouse and dog in the bathroom. Go out and party all night. When you get home in the morning, unlock the bathroom door and notice who is really glad to see you.

While I'd never lock my wife in a bathroom, or any other room, the answer is an easy one. In fact it's a running argument between myself and my wife. Of course the dog love me more, and since we have two of them, it's twice as much. But siriusly, woff, woff, we have two Coton De Tulear's, a brother and sister. The female is daddy's little girl and the male is mommy's little man. For those not familiar with the Coton De Tulear, they are members of the Bichon family and are referred to as the Royal Dogs of Madagascar. For the most part they are extremely happy, affectionate and playful dogs that live to please their humans. They are also referred to as anti-depressant dogs because it's tough to be despondent with these dogs around.

Louis Armstrong apparently had the same feeling. Here's one of my favorite song's, which was in You've Got Mail, titled The Dummy Song.

We had Malteses before deciding to get the Cotons. After our last Maltese went to the big dog park in the sky, I spent several months searching for the right breeder. We live in southeast Pennsylvania and I did not want to buy from a Lancaster county puppy mill. I also didn't want to buy from one of the American Coton Club breeders. With them it's more like you're renting the dog, if you even qualify to have one of their puppies. No thank you, not for me. I finally found a breeder about 4 hours north west of home that had a female Coton as a family pet and decided to breed her to see how well the puppies would sell. They bred other breeds of does, but not Cotons. We made the trip to their facility and were very impressed with what we found. The kennel was spotless and didn't smell like dogs in the least bit. The whole place was air conditioned and it was very well set up and run. When we got there the wife, who ran the dog business, was with another customer. She was expecting us sometime that afternoon. She sat up in a waiting room that had a child's wading pool full of play toys sitting on the floor. She them brought 6 Coton de Tulear puppies into the room and placed then into the pool, the went back to the other customers. These puppies were only about 4 or 5 weeks old and so, so cute. One of the puppies, a little girl, appeared to be slightly larger and a bit more playful than the others. When I picked her up and spoke to her, she got excited and climbed up my arm. I remember what I said, such a pretty little girl. I put her back into the plastic pool on the opposite side and called out, pretty girl. She ran to me. The decision was made, she'd eventually be coming home with us. When we went back a few weeks later to pick up our little girl, the kennel owner brought the same 6 puppies out to the plastic pool, one of which has a pink ribbon, our little girl. She was happily playing with another puppy and the other 4 seemed oblivious the the two playmates. As soon as I said, pretty girl, she recognized my voice and came running. Her little playmate followed. I kept quiet and they resumed playing. We observed their interaction for about 15 minutes. These two puppies were not only brother as sister, they appeared to be best buds. We had planned on taking only one puppy home. They're not cheap. But after seeing how close these two were, we couldn't split them up. The breeder said she'd give us $100 off per puppy if we took both of them. I wrote the check and we headed home with two little white fuzz ball puppies. The two of them are best buddies and she's daddy's little girl and he is mommy's little man. Oh, the thing about her being slightly larger than the other 5; turns out she's a genetic anomoly known as a Tall Coton, the rarest of the Coton de Tulear breed. When I chose the Coton de Tulear, I chose wisely.
