Without the tree leaves I was able to find an unobstructed opening at the end of my driveway.
Oh that’s an amazing photograph, Elliott.

I don’t know about amazing, but thanks very much.
Would love to know how to do this! What mm lens and settings? Tripod?
That is the most beautiful beachball I have ever seen. Looks like it was taken in 3-D.

The earth is rotating & the moon is moving so a shutter speed of at least 1/125 is critical - I use 1/250.
Use the longest/sharpest lens you own - mine is old and not the sharpest but good - Sigma 150-500mm.
I also used a 1.4 TC which combined with the 500mm lens yields 700mm focal length and f/9.
ISO 100 and auto white balance - shoot in raw so that your postprocessing will have the maximum impact. I used to use Photoshop but now use Affinity Photo almost exclusively. I've tried several add-ins such as Topaz, etc. but don't use any as I prefer to do my own adjustments.
One of the key aspects of a sharp photo is to avoid shake - for shooting the moon I always use live view to avoid mirror shake and I zoom in on the edge of the moon to focus manually (first auto focus on the rim but then fine tune manually).
Until recently I was using a small lightweight quality tripod but was getting too much shake - I now use an Induro 404XL carbon fiber tripod with a very sturdy gimbal head.
I hope this helps - best wishes with your moon shots. Feel free to pm me with an questions.
