Well, as it happens I’ve been a pentax guy(predominantly) for fifty,5.0. Years, and still buy what they make. In the last few years though i have also been shooting with FUJI. Got a fuji x-T20 and loved it, got an X-a3 and it’s a nice littl bugger, but the real champ I just got a few months ago, the X-T2. Fabulous. And I believe that fuji glass is near as great as that of PENTAX. Maybe i am biased, but the gear all gets me eager to get out and shoot. Cloudy day, somewhat out of focus.........RJM

Try and shoot them before you actually commit money to them. I like both but would go with the one that best suits your needs and has the best lens-options. The resale value of the Nikon would probably be a bit better when you decide to part with it later on and I like their glass better but I love the Fuji's monochrome interpretation better and when it comes to color science and auto focus , I prefer Sony & Canon over everything else.......each manufacturer has it's pluses & minuses. It's you tool box so fill it according to your needs and pricepoints.

Good Luck

I was a dedicated Nikon shooter and fell in love with Fuji. Fuji is now my go to.

I’m in the Fujifilm X-T3 category. Took my X-T1 with me to Botswana last year. Got the 3 at Xmas. Took that and its 100-400 telephoto with me this past August to Kenya. Both are wonderful. Light weight. Compact. The customizability of the buttons is terrific. There are so many easy to change focus points! The lock feature on the tele is fabulous. I have never owned a Nikon. However I moved over the years from Leica to Canon - and now I love my Fuji!

I own too much kit of both Nikon & Fuji. My Nikon gear has virtually been “in storage” for a couple of years now. My XT2, XT3 & X100F (fav for most applications) are my go to kits. So much so thatI shot a wedding with just the XT3 & X100F and was thrilled with the captures. Fuji excels at JPEGs and people. The colour palettes are outstanding, particularly people shots. My Nikon FF kit, it is really good and I have many permanent photo memories. For me, the newer tech, lighter weight, form-factor, visceral experience of using various dials at hand vs menus, size and most of all, the pleasure the Fuji family has reignited my interest/pleasure in photography. There is something that is “je ne sais pas” about making instant hand adjustments through a bright and large EVF that keeps me from going retro with my Nikon kit, time after time.

In the end, both are great cameras, maybe head down to your local camera store and try each out...you will know for yourself in one easy afternoon.

Merry Christmas!

funny how on UHH Photography while in theory produces one's visual statement albeit here it signifies Social Code a.k.a. one's persona...

I have to agree with billnikon... this is a troll's post... and warrants no serious consideration...
Folks get over your need to justify your foolish expenditures... and maybe get serious about establishing your brand i.e. visual statement... this is what commercial photographers strive to do and the lion's share just view their camera kit as a tool...

btw, what signifies a "Professional Photographer"? One who has master illumination (regardless of their kit)... Why are there so few post and queries about illumination i.e. the merits of split verses Rembrandt illumination? My guess is precious few on UHH actually currently shoot commercially albeit seems like there are a fair amount of "old boys" who like to pontificate about how great they were back in the day...

Photographic Excellence is most assuredly not a consumer product... it is primarily a result of mastering the art, and visual science of illumination... the effect that shadows have on how the human mind perceives depth and dimension... how hue and chroma effect the human physic... what one uses to capture this is at best secondary...

As to the OP's query? clickbait... enough said
in Fashion Textiles cover the body AND signify Soc... (show quote)

Wow... you drank the Kool-aid too!

Merry Christmas!

Both are good cameras, but starting from nothing, I’d go with Fuji, especially for JPEG quality.

OP should consider used, if money is an issue.

KEH.com and MPB.com are great sources of used gear. Adorama, B&H, Cameta, and Roberts are other dealer options.

I have to agree with you on the quality of Fuji'a RAW files. I recently was in the Biltmore mansion in Asheville, NC which has dark, badly lit interior rooms, which change space to space. At one point early on, I switched the Fujo X-T30 to "Auto," which only works in JPEG mode, and was completely amazed at the quality.
