I visited this Commercial Vehicle Museum in Leyland (my home town) recently. It was an open day with lots of stalls selling various items. Unfortunately due to poor weather, the organisers were not able to use the exterior so the venue was rather cramped for space. however, I did manage to get a few photographs without too much clutter.

Neat photos of exceptional vehicles. There are times that I wish the US was older to have the structures and such that are in Europe.

Lovely set of photos.
Thanks to your presentation of these photos I've only just now, suddenly, twigged that the Leyland part of the famed (?ill-famed, or perhaps ill-fated?) British-Leyland Conglomerate was a long standing firm with definite local roots.
I am particularly taken with the esthetic of undisguised functionality shown in your photos of the 1927 Leyland Omnibus and the Leyland Hippo Lorry. Also trying to imagine the combination of strength and single-minded attention required to manually crank-start that 1927 Omnibus with the lever down between the frame rails and behind that cross-bar. Absent minded drivers need not apply.

Thank you for your observant response, I actually live in Leyland and traces of the factory can be seen everywhere.
Leyland Trucks are still built in Holland at the main plant are in Eindhoven. Cabs and axle assemblies are produced at its Westerlo plant in Belgium. Some of the truck models sold with the DAF brand are designed and built by Leyland Trucks at its Leyland plant in England.

A truck driver earned his money wrestling a Leyland Octopus round a corner. Still got my dinky toy one.

I am amazed at the color schemes of these old vehicles and the detail work in them as well.

What a fabulous place to see & photograph. Thank you for showing it to us.
