Taken at Naples beach while enjoying a sundowner and waiting for the flash which I have never seen. The bird was composted in as a layer in PS. This is my first attempt at this so please help me with constructive criticism.
Nice pic. I like the bird in it.
Nice photo. I have never tried this so I have no advice. I have seen hundreds of green flashes but only on the island of Kauai and once in California. Strange, I live in Florida on the east coast so no chance to see it setting over water. I did live in Sarasota and worked in the Keys for several years and I never saw one. Good luck on your quest.
Every sun rise/set needs a bird to be complete. I prefer mine in the mid/foreground
Super sunset!
Thanks Lagoon guy, I am actually a sailor and look often from my boat and still no luck. I may have to cut back on the sundowners
thanks Nields. would that mean making the bird larger and moving to the left?
I have numerous times been in groups of sundown viewers and I would say that a good 25% of the viewers didn’t see the flash and some who had been watching on Kauai for 20 years had never seen one. They did see a lot of beautiful sunsets. I always marvel at how quickly the crowds disperse immediately as the sun goes down, that’s just when the show is beginning. Have fun with your photos.

I like the sunset and you did a nice job of placing the bird in it
Visual conditions have to be so perfect that your chances are often very low to begin with. No clouds & no haze are first two requirements. While in the Navy, we looked for it every evening we were steaming on the surface and only saw it maybe once a month. Very nice composite.
Excellent photograph! I've seen the green flash from Naples beach several times but have never been able to capture it! I will be there Wednesday to Saturday and hope to hit Corkscrew Sanctuary Friday morning.
I may have to cut back on the sundowners[/quote]
Nooooooo!
Nice pic. You did a great job. Just wondering what the pic would look like with the bird rite in the ceter of the sun.
I think you did really well! As for the green flash... I’ve never met anyone who’s seen it and we used to spend a fair amount of time on the west coast of Florida.
