Currently going to downsize as my interests in what I photograph has changed.
This lens was purchased new by me at B&H on 01/10/17. It is in mint minus condition as it was used maybe 5 times. A UV filter was placed on the lens from day 1.
I am Selling it because I no longer plan to do Micro/Macro photography.
For those times when a photographer wants to shoot from a distance without compromising quality or focus, there is the Nikon Micro-Nikkor D 200 mm f/4.0. This Micro-Nikkor lens has a working distance that allows for shooting in areas where illumination by artificial means is necessary, as well as those situations where it might be hazardous to move in closer for the shot. The teleconvertor of this camera lens allows it to easily and smoothly reach magnification levels of up to 1.0x. This versatility makes it easy to use the Nikon Micro-Nikkor D 200 mm f/4.0 Lens to shoot travel photography, as well as portraits. Due to its lightweight design, this Micro-Nikkor lens is ideal for those photographers that like to hike or bike in order to obtain their stunning photographs. The f/4.0 aperture of the Nikon Micro-Nikkor D 200 mm f/4.0 allows for superior control of the depth of the field and a removable tripod mount permits the photographer to set up their camera anywhere they desire.

I have been using this lens since 2008 and love it and it is FX even if not marked.
The price seems like a good deal to me.

I think this is the lens that Ken Rockwell uses for when he includes photos of gear that he is evaluating in his write-ups. An excellent lens.

You won't any problem selling this baby. If I was younger, I would buy this but currently I am now thinking about cremation urns rather than camera lenses !!

What about using a lens hard case instead of an urn and solving both problems?

Great idea. It comes with the hard case. Attitude is very important.

And I do have a 200mm Nikkor prime that I bought back in 1970 and it came with a nice brown hard leather Nikkor case. Gee...……..I guess I could have someone dump my ashes into that nice brown leather Nikkor case !!

If you had the Hard Case from the Micro Nikkor lens, you can share your ashes to two people.
I have this lens and it is perhaps the best macro lens available out there. No wonder Nikon is still making this lens today.

Dave you are so correct. Image taken today since I have not used the lens recently.
"...removable tripod mount..." PixelStan77 the tripod collar is not removable... unless you are referring to third party arca swiss type plate...
btw the the HN-24 Metal Hood shown in your imagery is NOT appropriate for this nikkor...
It takes the HN-30 Metal Hood...
The HN-24 is a cheaper Hood which is designed for the AF 70-210mm f/4 and the AF 70-210mm f/4-5.6
It is important to use the HN-30 Hood with the AF 200mm f/4 IF ED micro Nikkor since it isn't Nano Crystal Coated... This more expensive and much deeper HN-30 Hood protects the front lens element negating the need to place any filter on this lens... it is designed to be used without a filter for optimum acuity..
btw, I use this optic regularly in the studio to shoot beauty genre...
It works well in this scenario albeit I would never take it out on location... it is rather cumbersome and not easy to shoot... a monopod (at minimum) is virtually mandatory if you have any hope of realizing the superb acuity this optic is capable of...
Owing to it's extremely long focus throw it's AF is possibly one of the slowest I've ever encountered... the good news is it's a dream to focus manually with excellent precision... the not so good news is it's virtually useless for sports/action... it's basically a one trick pony... it does what it's designed to do and it does it well... flat field w/ edge to edge sharpness and zero distortion...
(best at f/5.6 to f/16 for FX)
(best at f/5.6 to f/8 for DX)
