Some Times I Am "Different" and do different things.
Today was our oldest son's birthday - 45. He has a room at our house for when he isn't gallivanting around the country or world (Army Reserves, Team Rubicon, Red Cross and another Master's from George Town) He is here currently. I made my home made chili and chocolate chip cookies - while I was mixing the cookie dough he walked by and I asked if he wanted nuts in his Birthday Cookie. He tossed me a pack of Trader Joe's Raw Pecans and asked "What's a birthday cookie?" I told him since I don't bake cakes I was doing a cookie that would fill a pie pan. He looked skeptical and kept going. Well a bit later he came back through the kitchen and here is what I had for him. He cut it like a pie, scooped one slice into a bowl and walked off eating it with a spoon "Good cookie!" It is about 3/4" thick in a 9" pie pan.
The other 2/3 of the dough I made got walnuts for my wife and produced 18 cookies aprx 3-4" each.
Good work! That is thinking outside the box (or pan), Bob.

Thanks
I try
Besides those big novelty pizza size cookies you see in bakeries I got the idea from the fact that when I first started making my own chocolate chip cookies back when he was in high school it was just easier to make large ones then those neat little 2" ones. Mine were 4-6" and he named them "chocolate chip pancakes".
I make pretty good cookies and chili - when we get invited to a potluck they always add - bring cookies or chili or better yet both. They don't give my wife Debbie any order, they just let her decide what she is bringing - often lasagna with a couple of loafs of cheesed garlic bread - she makes good lasagna.

Jerry, excellent "pie". I would have done something similar.

Want the recipe? It starts with commercial basic cookie mix made by Krustez and then I add stuff.
I'll take the pecans over walnuts any day! I like the taste better, but I'm also allergic to walnuts. Do you mind giving out your recipe? Looks delicious!

Came out good, only problem so thick that by the time it was done all the way through the coating on the pan was all absorbed and it stuck to the pan. But guess what, you can eat a large soft cookie with a spoon.

I had to split the dough, Michael wanted pecans and the wife wanted walnuts.
I am about to go make a cup of coffee and will get the recipe from the cabinet and post it on this thread.
