In the same vein as my printer question I am also looking for geneology for Mac. I currently use Reunion, but from my research it isn't compatible with Catalina if/and when I do the "upgrade." Looking in the Apple store and on line I really haven't found anything similar. I know I could go to one of the cloud type sites but For the time being I don't want to put my findings out for the public.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions
Bill
I use (and REALLY LIKE) Roots Magic, but the MAC version does not support Catalina (10.15) yet.
But I'm surmising that they are working on it.
Family tree maker is compatible with Catalina, pretty sure you can run it in a private mode. I will ask my wife when she gets home, she has used all of them. I will post what I find out.
MacFamily Tree says it is compatible with Catalina. I use it on my Mac, a bit pricey especially since sometimes one has to pay to upgrade but does a lot, including gives you a website for others to view.
I checked with my better half (the genealogist). She says that family tree maker can either be cloud based or private, she opted for the private tree and not public. We attended a workshop a couple weeks ago on family tree maker and have the 2019 version on her iMac, it is 64bit software. The demos at the workshop were good with a lot of features. I was just a spectator and the driver for the evening.
Look for a half price deal, check with your local genealogy society for possible deals on the software.
Not sure you are aware but the wife says you can save your Reunion file as a gedcom and then import that into family tree maker. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the suggestions. With a little digging it looks like Reunion has had several upgrades since my version. I sent them a message asking about Catalina compatability, waiting for a response.

call Apple or contact Reunion.
Have you looked at Family Search? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has a huge database from all over the world. They keep it pretty current as to updates.

On a serious note, I have been using Ancestry.com for over 10 years now.
I have a number of friends with MACs that have had no issues using it as it is a web based program.
FTM is not part of Ancestry but it will sync with it.
