Too many stupid questions.

Who's blood is it?

Where did you get it?

Why is it in a bucket?

Yes, too many questions and the sun will be rising soon and you must get home soon less you burst into flames. They just do not appreciate the Amarican Disabilities Act protects Vampires.

I can't give blood. Periodically I have to have a Phlebotomy and then they throw the blood away. Anyway, I don't get the joke...Guess I haven't had enough coffee yet this AM...

If the bucket was sterile, I don't see the problem.

First, let me say that the questions are not "stupid". They are necessary to protect our blood supply and date back to the 1970's when HIV-AIDS was 100% fatal, patients were contracting AIDS from transfusions and the safety of our blood supply was uncertain. Our blood supply is safer now because those questions are being asked. It is the law.

Second, for years I use to donate blood every three months in Anaheim, California. The Red Cross called me incessantly asking for donations and I consistently responded by making appointments at the blood bank each time. One time, I made an appointment, took off work and arrived at my appointment on time, signed in and then waited for over three hours because walkins were taken before those who arrived on time for appointments. I complained to the head person and was assured that it would never happen again. The next time I got called I made an appointment after relating what had happened last time and was again assured that I would be taken on time. The same thing happened again! That was the last time I ever donated blood.

Like you, I donated every three months. When I turned 65, I was put on "hold" because my iron levels were low. I finally got up to the minimum hemoglobin levels, but it was taking longer between donations. I finally discovered that I no longer make an enzyme which causes me to absorb vitamin B-12. The doctor told me to stop giving blood - period; I had donated enough. My hemoglobin levels are now up to "standard" levels, as is my B-12 levels. 3K units of B-12 daily, sublingually, takes care of the problem. Any excess B-12 goes out through the urinary tract.

Lots of folks have poor iron levels when they get to ca. age 65, or so. B-12 fixes it; but you're on B-12 for the rest of your life.

I still get calls from ARC. However, now they want me to donate money. They're now on my call block list.
