The battery life can be extended by turning Airplane Mode ‘ON.’ If you don’t hear is what you can expect. Notice the ‘stair-step’ behavior of the Sony battery.
I switched to the 6300 because of its magnesium body.
The only downside of the a6000 that I've found... it's a real battery hog... and I have 3 of them... also picked up a pretty decent strobe... but, haven't used it much.

I love mine. Versatile and effective. Three observations: 1. Battery life is an issue. 2. It takes some effort to learn the intricacies of the camera’s operation. 3. You have to be very careful, when changing lenses, because the sensor is exposed whenever you remove the lens and dust gets in. Other than that, great picture quality, great zoom capabilities (clear image zoom), and light weight.

Interesting that you posted this graph. I just pulled out my A6300 the other day and charged up the batteries. I store them outside the camera because they discharge too quickly in the camera. I have two Sony branded batteries and two Wasabi batteries. One of the Sony batteries was down to 60% and the other was down to around 90%, while both Wasabi batteries were still at 100%. All four have been stored out of the camera for quite awhile as I haven’t used it much since getting the RX100 M7. I wonder who makes the batteries that Sony puts their label on.
Sony a6000 is an incredible work horse. Put a good quality optics on - and go!
It is smarter than you are.
Bravo Sony!!!
I added one to my small collection last year. It’s probably the best photography purchase I have made.
Taken with A6000 and 16-50 Kit Lens , Musk Ox Skull. This is excellent low price camera.

My DSLR is my main camera, but for when I want a light and compact kit, I love my Sony a6000.

Cool shot. That 16-50 lens is underrated, in my opinion. I just wish they’d made it a 16-80mm.
The 6500 is a better camera. In fact it’s an amazing camera used it as a third camera I music video, The image is cut in perfectly With the big Sony video cameras. Amazing, a little bit scary. Anyway the 6500 is wonderful
I switched from the Nikon D5500 to the Sony a6000. The camera is smaller and lighter and the results are super. I know that there are great deals on the Sony a6000 kit with lenses but I would go for the Sony a6400. It just has better features including faster focusing and eye focusing, extended video shooting than the a6000. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the internal stabilization, bigger battery and microphone jack that the a6600 has.
thank you I am leaning that way
I have had mine since December of 2014 thanks to a superb B&H deal at the time. Great travel camera. Menu is just different not any better or worse than any other IMO. I used it for travel and family shots with the 16-50 kit lens, but also for shooting MMA and theater indoors with the 50mm f/1.8. Have adapters for Canon EF lenses, but agree, that AF confirmation is slower than I prefer sometimes. Most liked but also most challenging (for me) is using my adapted Rokinon 85/1.4 with the 6K. Have gotten as many as 800 shots on one batter with 20-25% remaining, but still fewer the with a DSLR. Perfectly acceptable in my view.
A6000 is a great camera for your purposes
Have fun!

I have the 6000 and the 6500. The 6000 is a phenomenal camera for the money. The stock lens 16-50 isn't very good though, I'd recommend the tamron 18-200.
The battery life isn't the greatest. but a couple of extra's will carry you through, after you get going.
