I highly recommend Canon SX 730. It has 40X Optical zoom! Digital zoom is crap!

Howdy: I am trying to find a bridge camera for my wife that costs from one to three hundred dollars. It can be refurbished, as opposed to brand new. She wants a superzoom with 25x or more, simple point and shoot model, and very importantly, an optical viewfinder (she hates having to use a camera's monitor to compose and shoot.) Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
A year ago I bought a refurbished Panasonic LUMIX ZS-60 in your price range. It has an electronic viewfinder, zooms to 30x, shoots RAW and JPEG, has a great touchscreen and has 18 megapixels. Small enough for a pocket, it’s a great, little camera!
AND, Canon's refurbished carry the same one year warranty as their new cameras. Have bought several and they always look NEW.
Lumix FZ80. $325 new, $225 used on ebay. Got mine on ebay from Sammy's Camera as an open box in mint condition for $230. 20mm to 1200mm zoom and macro, can shoot auto or manual settings, built in flash, continuous auto focus 4K video, light weight, shoots jpeg and raw. Electronic viewfinder and live view lcd screen. I have the FZ80 and the Coolpix B700. Both are excellent light weight super zoom bridge cameras.

I guess I'm not as technology savvy ..... as I have always tended to think both optical and electronic viewfinders are considered the same as opposed to the LED screen. In other words the little squint hole to avoid a washed out screen :-) . Is it possible that's what the OP meant? Look for a good condition Panasonic Lumix ZS50 which I think is 30X and has the viewfinder and the LED screen. Love mine. They are selling on eBay for around $150 on average.
There are some advantages to the "little squint hole." With no viewfinder you have to hold the camera away from your face to frame the image. Camera shake, anyone? I don't use the LCD on my DSLRs for shooting; only for reviewing.
I love my Nikon coolpix p610. 60x optical zoom, 16 mph with an optical viewfinder. Even though I have a "better" camera, this one still gets grabbed a lot for quick snaps.

Sony HX99, can shoot raw, has a pop up viewfinder, has a 24-750 mm ZEISS lens. I use this camera and make 20X30 image popping prints with it.
Yes, heard great things about this camera!
Great! Thank you everyone for all your suggestions and information--I really appreciate your help.
I like the Fuji xs1...larger sensor than most high zoom bridge cameras. I just invested in mft camera and lenses so may sell my xs1 if youre interested. As new condition.
The Panasonic ZS70 has all the spec's your wife wants plus a fantastic LEICA 24 mm to 720 mm lens.
If you buy this camera I would also suggest you by Alexander S. White's book; Photographer's guide to the Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS70/TZ90.

It appears that the Canon PowerShot SX530 HS does not have a viewfinder as desired by OP's wife.
