Cool! I love Scott's Rag!! I worked at a museum that played this. I have his CD
My late grandmother told me about Scott Joplin. How he could move his fingers on the piano. Growing up in the 50s Rock n Roll era, ragtime was not my Cup of Tea. The 1973 movie, The Sting, played some of his compositions. Also, actor Billy Dee Williams, played the role of Scott Joplin. I saw both movies. Now, I appreciate many other great music legends of decades past. Benny Goodman was awesome on Clarinet. I saw a TV interview, a long time ago, where Lionel Hampton said, Benny Goodman asked him to join his trio.

If you get a chance, listen to the Benny Goodman 1938 jazz concert at Carnegie Hall. Here's the full album:
https://youtu.be/tGP2SM4OTM4 - Teddy Wilson, Benny, Gene Krupa, Harry James, Lionel Hampton, Johnny Hodges, many others.
Enjoy,
Mark
He was great. I saw a filmed biography of him but I do not know the title.
Interesting dueling pianos scenes.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, I'll listen to it later. It's 53 minutes. One favorite composition that I liked by Benny, as a kid, was One O'clock Jump. My mother played it. I finally got to seeing the 1990 Dizzy Gillespie interview you posted a while back. Enjoyed it. One of the Beboppers of his time.

Happy Monday!

I have heard that the piano rolls sped up Joplin's music. He is supposed to have said, "never play ragtime fast." I accompany my wife with brushes, snare, and high hat when she plays this rag.

Very cool!! The two of you probably make a terrific duet.

Love, love Scott Joplin; been a fan since the 60s. The move "The Sting" really brought him to the attention of the nation for a while. Some concert Pianist did an album of his songs, but I thought he missed the heart of the music; too soft and sweet for my taste.
