For copying slides I set my camera on tripod beside projector...Show a slide and photograph it.
I left the camera on auto focus and the results were just like new.
Only expense was SD card. Worked for me.

I've used two services and they both worked very well.
www.scancafe.com and digmypics.com

ScanCafe is out of India and Digmypics is in the USA

Thank you for the leads

I have used my Epson V550 scanner with excellent results but; I finally gave up as scanning numerous slides and photos just took too much time. lately, I've used a service, either DigMyPics or Scan Cafe - whichever one is running a sale. Reasonable pricing mostly and quick - 2 weeks.
Just another idea for you.

I do have a slew of 2 1/4 glass-mounted slides that I will scan myself as these services charge upwards of $2.00 per slide to scan.

Another alternative is another member has (or had a week or so ago) a Nikon CoolScan slide scanner for $75 if memory serves. It would pay for itself very quickly. https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-760581-1.html

I do my research, and I did for this topic. As some of you know, I am a portrait photographer. That being said; I ask you the following question because..."I DO NOT KNOW"!!! So, please forgive my ignorance of this topic.

I was asked (by a friend, not a client) the "BEST and MOST COST EFFECTIVE WAY" to convert the files I previously mentioned into Digital. (CD, DVD, or Thumb Drive) I said to him...I will check it out for you.

I did check on Amazon and was really surprised at how many there are! Lots! I read a ton of reviews of many of the systems on the market. I then went to You Tube and watched another ton of reviews.

Since this is not my forte, I am asking for any opinions that my fellow friends may have on this topic.

I am looking for: Price...Resolution...etc, and a "Name of the Device"? (If you know)

I thank you for your time in this concern. I know your time is valuable, and I sincerely appreciate you time and expertise.

I hope I asked this question intelligently, and I hope you can reply to this question.

Thank so much, Boone.
I do my research, and I did for this topic. As som... (show quote)

When I began converting my media from film to digital, I owned a Nikon LS-30, but it didn’t last long, and it had problems with what I called “haloes” - when a light area was next to a dark area, the light area would spill over to the dark area. I tried an Epson scanner, but it also had problems with “haloes”, and spots. I then got a refurbished Nikon LS-2000, whose multi-scan mode used parallax to deal with haloes and spots, but it worked much better when newly CLAed; as time passed, looking at it with 200%, showed uneven horizontal lines - it had ‘registration’ issues. Now I’m using a Plustek 8100, and ‘fixing’ the few spots that show up at 200%.

This is a zombie thread from 2019!

That said, I spent much of 2020 and 2021 working on a very effective solution to copying all my film to digital. It is attached below, as a PDF file that will open in your favorite PDF reader.
