It's easy. Put the cat outside.

The cat was not asked to smile?

Good shot and concept.

Very funny. Our cat and dog are not interested, thank goodness! I had a golden retriever in the past who would sometimes (not often - he was not a glutton) sneak into the living room and carefully extract a candy cane from the tree, unwrap it, and eat it. He would come and sit down by me and I would look at him and say "WHO has minty breath"? He would then look appropriately guilty.....

I remember my mother had a cat. The Christmas tree would be up and every so often I’d hear a crash. I peeked around the corner and saw the cat, her hand under the ball delicately lifting the ball with its hook off of the bottom limbs, hitting it hard with her paw and smashing it against the wall. She thought it was great fun. My mom said it was okay—my mom would put the cheap, older, worn-out balls that she really didn’t want anymore on the very bottom of the tree.

Cute! It takes creativity to deal with these cats.

I once had a Siamese who might have climbed the pole anyway. I had this can of citrus spray that you were supposed to catch the cat where he was not supposed to be, spray his feet, then put the can in the place. The idea was that he would avoid the can because of the disagreeable scent. However, he was smart enough to figure out that the can could not spray him if someone was not holding it. Have several pictures of trees with an orange can beneath them.

We haven't had a tree in 10 years because of our little friends
