A recent post and discussion here about the latest technology gave me this idea. This is a good place to be.

The digital randomness is the background. The battery is the sine qua non for our technology. Yet, the history of the arts (brushes in this case) shadows over us still.

Glad you found it cool. I would appreciate a PM from you explaining what you thunk from following my posts. I have a goal in them, and a split has developed regarding my posts: openness + helpfulness vs. abrasiveness and egotistical. I am gathering info to check myself. Since I am assuming you are of an age like me, you likely know frankness is not a problem for me.

Anyway, whatever you choose, thanks for questioning and commenting. There is a big question as to whether a person should present whatever pleases them (subjectivity) or present something that follows good visual principles as well as technical ones. That's for another time, but I tacked it on because your question touches it.

An intriguing and entertaining piece. I have to admit I did not recognize the "sticks" as artists brushes, so your theme (as you expressed it in your second post) eluded me. But in any event, an imaginative and challenging image; fun to look at....

Dang! I fell prey, it seems, to the fault of seeing what I know rather than what is seen by most. I may re-shoot, with the brushes hold in the pic. Thanks.

Like it! My hearing-aid battery has escaped yet again and this time it’s landed between the shadows of Bob’s brush pot! What was wrong with the good old-fashioned horn eh? Didn’t have to chase batteries around then!

Is there a way to get the bristles on at least one brush to spread out a little? Maybe using an old brush?

Good thought. I'll try that. Might also include the brushes themselves. Have to wait for the #%*# sun to come out. Oh, woe..........the life of someone who depends on light!

This thread has been a perfect example of one of the reasons I like UHH (except for some prickly, authoritarian moderators :-)), the critiques being very helpful in improving the intent of the OP.

Thanks to all participants in this thread.

I think your idea is great — and my background is an engineer 😂, but my love is photography and I enjoy seeing originality
My wife is the artist.
So, my thoughts, keep shadows only but turn it around with a “glass” with the bruises sticking out brush end up
But then again what you did requires a little visual thought 👍🏼

Ah, another good idea. The glass will add to the idea of the past passing onward, and will make the visuals more interesting.

Thank you,
