I use 14, but have no problems. I'm on an 27-inch iMac.

I use PSE-10 on a Win10 machine. No problems. Tell us more about your configuration. The problem is likely not the software.

Haren,

I'm going to guess that you've got too many background programs running and there is not enough RAM left for Photoshop Elements. Second guess is that you're running out of disk space. Photoshop needs "room to work".

A true story. My son bought a very good computer for his family. One family member thought that they should turn on the built in Windows security. Another family member was worried about hackers and installed Anti Virus software. The two programs were so busy keeping the computer safe, nothing else worked well at all.

That should work great. Installing an ancient, by computer standards, program on a current operating system might fix everything!

"we are not all flush"

Sorry if I offended you. If you read what I wrote, it was about cleaning up your computer. That doesn't cost money. Maybe reinstalling will work. Try it.

What is also "free" is to simply google the issue, like "photoshop elements 14 hangs". These two posts are in the first page of results, both offering a list of similar "free" actions to investigate and possible resolve:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-photoshop.html
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-tools-slows-freezes-locks-up.html

A different post than the two above referenced adjusting how Norton Anti-Virus is configured. The Adobe support posts mention re-installing the PSE14 software as one possible action. Before installing from CD, try instead a technical support chat with Adobe and see if they can give you the 'final' PSE14 install file that includes any / all point-updates so that you're re-installing the best (and final) PSE14 software.

I sometimes have trouble with Elements 14 freezing especially after a Windows or other update. Sometimes a restart helps or a re-installation works.

I had the same issue- tried the Google thing- no luck. Finally I just deregistered it uninstalled it, rebooted and reinstalled PSE-14 and like magic it works again - no clue why I guess sometimes you just have to use a hammer

I use Elements 14 on a Mac and a Dell; no complaints about either.

Elements 14 is a RAM hog. I am on a Windows PC, 24 gigs of Ram, 4GZ, 4 gig Vid card and I have no issues.

Try cleaning up your computer using CCCleaner at the very least. A free program which I have been using for over 10 years( updated naturally).

Many friends having issues have used this program with great success.
