Please download for correct color and detail.

Check out the thigh and forearm muscles of the mountain biker.

The mountain goat is sniffing my urine that I just deposited. Mountains often lick the urine-laced mud for the salt contents.

Thanks for sharing these, greymule. If you have more pictures of the goat, please post them as well as more scenics of the beautiful area.

With about 175 Colorado climbs under my belt, I've had many encounters with friendly goats. They often follow people hoping they will pee. In parts of the San Juan Mtns, they get so bold that women are advised to bring a stick to keep the goats at bay. On one summit, I encountered three Billies. One appeared to be quite old. Before leaving, I decided to treat them and pee. The old one who was obviously the alpha approached me close enough that I put my hand out to keep him 4 ft. away.

Yes, the biker is DEFINITELY in better shape than I. Good shot of the mountain goat.

In my youth, I parked below the Chicago Lakes, which you show here, and hiked up to Summit Lake. I drove to Summit Lake this summer, looked over the canyon and wondered how I grew so old so fast that I couldn't even make the trip DOWN to Chicago Lakes. I also traveled numerous times down the east side to Bear Track Lakes from the road. The whole area is magical. Thanks for the memories and nice photo.

Since billy goats like to pee on themselves, that old guy probably hoped you'd pee on him!

"Down to Chicago Lakes" is a STEEP climb, and back up is a killa. We often hike from Echo Lake to Chicago Lakes. It's still a steep climb from the first to the second lake. Each year it gets harder (and longer ).
