#1 The Virginia Monument is 42 ft. high, the sculpture of General Lee on his horse Traveler is 14 ft. high which stands on top of a 28 ft. high granite pedestal with 7 confederate Soldiers beneath him. the 7 Soldiers are representative of the men of all walks of life who left home and trade behind to serve in the military. #2-3 are Confederate General James Longstreet, I was amazed at the detail in all the sculptures so #3 is just a close up to show the detail in these amazing sculptures. #4-5 Louisiana Monument, The monument is entitled "Spirit Triumphant" it represents a wounded gunner of New Orleans Washington Artillery clutching to his heart a Confederate battle flag while above him the Spirit of the Confederacy sounds a trumpet and raises a flaming cannonball. Louisiana sent over 3,000 men to Gettysburg and 725 became casualties. The first shot I like the way the sun illuminates the gold flame. #6 The Gettysburg Hotel was established in 1797.#7 The Georgia Monument is located near the location where General Semmes Georgia Brigade began its attack toward the Wheatfield on July 2nd.
