A really remarkable shot. I've been enamored of Shiprock ever since it played a role in a Hellerman mystery I read. Got a pic of it from the highway once, but of course it was far away. Could you please tell me how far it is from the highway? Thanks.

There are places where it is real close. If you go South from the town of Shiprock on 391 to Red Rock Highway and turn right, about 4 miles down red Rock Highway it will be very close on your right. There is a dirt road to the right that will take you even closer and there is a large parking lot where you can park and walk even closer.
Here is one I took from that location looking South to North. The Black an White I took from a different location looking from East to West. Here is another from the same location, but with a more dramatic sky taken at a different time.

Thanks! Your views give a different aspect. "Shiprock" is actually at the end of a line of similar jagged rocks. Very interesting.
