I know we have a lot of Mac users on here, so I have a question for you. Do you use a laptop or desktop when working at home?

I have an idea in the back of my mind to get a 13" Macbook, and I'll keep asking questions till I don't have an excuse not to get one. :D

I have a desktop PC-- but I use my MacBook Pro for almost everything: Store photos, fine-tuning them etc. I'll never go back to a PC. I use them at work-- and that's enough!

I have an older iMac. Love it. I love the large screen and I like a full size keyboard. I'm hoping to upgrade to a new one soon.

I don't have a laptop yet and looked into the new retina display Macs. They started at $2500. I ended up ordering a Dell 17" off QVC the other night for @ $650. It comes with Elements 10 installed. The selling point was 4 years of "American" 24/7 tech support. It will do for travel and downloading photos while out of town.

I can't speak for a Macbook but I do know that's a very small screen for viewing graphics. When it comes to viewing, the bigger, the better. Things look better on a smaller screen and things can be missed that are discerned on a larger one. Fine as a carry-around but not as a workhorse at home. That being said, a powerful laptop can substitute for a desktop with the add-on of a large sized monitor. The output of the graphic card may be fine for the laptop but is it robust enough to take advantage of the larger screen?. A laptop with sufficient RAM, a good graphic card, a decent sized hard drive with enough room to accommodate programs with ever increasing demand for real estate can definitely replace a desktop w/ the monitor's addition. An oversized hard drive is less important where files are off-loaded to an external drive.

I have a 24 inch iMac desktop that I bought in late 2009 and a 13 inch MacBook Air that I bought about about a year ago.

Couldn’t agree with you more, once you go MAC you wont go back. I use a 17” MacBook pro, with a 24” ext monitor. Too bad they don’t make the 17” any more may be they will bring it back.

The current 21.5 IMac, wish it was the larger now, but I do have 8 gig ram.
For home use of course, the larger the screen the better for photo work, I might add the IMac is due to be upgraded very soon as the laptops probably next spring.

I primarily use my 13" MacBook Pro. I have an internal drive that is 1TB in size and 8 Gb of RAM. At the office I use a Gateway desktop and still use the MBP for most graphic work.

Hi, I'm am Apple person and agree with NormsImages, once you use a Mac you wont go back to a PC. I've been using an iMac 20" for about 6 years now with no trouble at all. My son gave me his old 13" MacBook Air laptop and I didn't think I'd like it but have found its so much handier and like the fact I can use it anywhere I want. Today I have ordered the 15"MacBook Pro with Retina Display for my photos. The resolution for photos with the Retina is the best of all, better even than the larger desktops I believe. I too wish they still made the 17" screen but at least the 15" is better than 13" which is definitely too small.

I have 15 Mac pro laptop . Love it. My computer at work is a Mac . If you like no drama , no viruses, no adware a Mac is the one. When my kids and I owned a pc had to wipe the hard drive to get rid of the adware that constantly slowed it down . I would do virus scans, adware scans to keep it clean. My girls and I all have Mac and I do nothing. We don't even have virus protection on any of them. Mac sure you get the pro.
