Anyone who has experience with both Panasonic GX8 and G9 please provide insight on the noise level of the sensors. I know the AF speed and burst rate are all faster on G9. But is there any improvement on the noise under high ISO shooting for the G9? I am on the verge of buy the G9 body.
I have and like a GX8. I'm lusting over a G9. I hope there are posts to push me over the top!

I considered the G9 and the GH5 but went with the Olympus OM D M1 MkII. The Panasonics seem to have better video capability but I think Olympus is a better still life camera and the lenses are fantastic. But that's my opinion and I am sure there are others.
I don’t have the G8 but I have been using the G9 for about 2 years and have found that I can generally shoot up to ISO 1600 and not have it become an issue, at least for me, while my D750’s are good to 6400. I can barely, if at all, tell the difference between the two systems in my travel photos even when viewed on a 50 inch 1080p Monitor. I think the 6.5 stabilization has a lot to do with it. I am very pleased with the G9.
There is a difference between the GX8 and the GX9, and also between the G8 and G9. I own a GX9 and am very happy with it.
It appears several of the people answering above may be confused about which models are which and what two models you want to compare.
So, please confirm you want info on the G9 and not the GX9.
The GX8 came after the GX7. Both superb in their own way, but the GX8 is very different to the GX7. Then came the GX9 - which IS the upgrade for the GX7. The GX8 is a Maverick and very special - although it shares the swivelling EVF of the GX7 and GX9. A major difference for the GX9 is a new type of magnetic shutter, which removes the possibility of shutter vibration. Of the three cameras, only the GX8 has a fully articulating monitor and weather sealing. The other two having a swivel up and down type. My experience of the GX7 and GX8 is that noise is not a problem with either camera. Therefore I would not expect it to be a problem with the GX9 of which I have no experience.

BUT, the OP is asking about the G9 and not aboit the GX-9....
The GX8 would be your worst nightmare. That was the camera that is now out of production and had severe problems with shutter shock. The more recent Panasonic cameras have the problem solved using what is called an electromagnetic shutter, including in the current model GX9.

The G series andthe GX series are very different animals, but I'm not sure the OP know that. They are totally different cameras.
To clarify. It is the G9 I am ooking at, not GX9.
For those who have experience with G9. I would like to know if there is improvement with the noise from GX8. Thank you.

The G9 is a semi-pro DSLR look-a-like micro four thirds MILC. The GX8 is a retro rangefinder look-a-like, also micro four thirds MILC with semi-pro qualities. There is also a GX9 - another retro rangefinder look-a-like, and the upgrade of the GX7. You are comparing a G series with a GX series - was that your intention?
Yes, to me it is an upgrade from GX8 to G9.

Some prefer the GX9 to the G9. Anything is an upgrade from a gX8.
My main concern is the sensor is better.
