As each trio of legs get narrower from top to bottom, I keep the lowest trio collapsed. When the center post needs to be more than a third extended, I readjust tbe lower trio. I have put scratch marks on the legs for quick adjustability (1/4, 1/2, 3/4 points).
I went to look at a few tripods today at Samy’s Camera to get an idea of the leg thickness on each of the three that they offered in store. The Benro and Sirui models both have bottom legs about 5/8 thick. The Sirui has markings on the legs for quick adjustments. The Manfrotto has ‘ok’ stability but the lowest leg sections are thinner than the others. Now I need to go take a gander at the Feisol. Problem is no one carries them in stock around here.
