St. Benedict's Painted Church--Kona
Whenever we visit the Big Island of Hawaii (Kona), this church is a must re-visit. I am not a religious person, but this church draws me back every time. Hopefully my pictures will explain why.
I used my new "travel camera". I was missing out on photos as I didn't want to bring my dslr along due to sand and having to carry it everywhere if I was out for the day. The Sony RX100vii can be carried around my neck in a tiny bag or put in my waist pack. So far I am very happy with it for landscape travel photos. I am amazed at all it can do for such a small camera.
In earlier years we'd be greeted by a big old red dog who would follow us into the church, as a guide of sorts. Unfortunately, it seems he has passed on.
Your photos do indeed display the beauty of this church, nice work.
Might have been a good place for hdr.

Thanks for your comments, Bruce!
No wonder you keep coming back to it. I would too.

Thanks, NMGal! Have you see that little church in Santa Fe with the mysterious spiral staircase? I would visit that again if I ever get back to New Mexico. It's about time for another trip to the ballon fiesta, I think.
Nice images!
Now I feel really bad about passing it by last week. Saw the sign as we were headed down to the coast. Forgot it on the way back up.
And I’m never going back to the big island. It wasn’t only the protest jungle at the TMT turnoff. Several other non-Aloha encounters.
Thanks jederick.
It is an amazing camera given its size. Now if PSElements could just open Sony raw files . . . .

Thanks IDguy. The Big Island is a different Hawaii, thats for sure. Sorry for the unpleasantness you encountered.

Katy, thanks for sharing these great shots. When we were on the Big Island, we couldn't make it to the church on time. Barely had time to make it to Quinns's Almost By The Sea.
