1,183 NEF and JPG - Advice, Please

After a week on Cape Cod, I'm home with 1,183 NEF and JPG images. I have no experience with raw files, so any advice on processing/sorting would be welcome. I have PS6 and LR4.

I used the Whibal card for white balance, so I'm looking forward to seeing how that works out.

I believe that you can do a batch process which will convert your NEF images to PhotoShop RAW, thus naking them easier to manipulate in PS. You can also rename them with the date taken included in the title.

I whittled them down to an even 400 images, which I am sure I will reduce even more.

As I process these, I will be learning PS6, ACR, and LR4. This will not be a speedy operation.

When you import your images into LR4 select "Copy as DNG." This will convert the images from your camera's RAW format into Adobe's DNG format.

While in LR4, If you need to edit an image in PS, just right click on the image, select "Edit in" from the window that pops up, then select Photoshop.
