CHDK remote switch hardware

After investigating what kinds of switches people have put together to do remote shutter release on non-remote Canons using CHDK, I decided to dig through my junk box and see what I could build for free. And now that I have a cable release for the SX30, I'm pretty sure I'll use it all the time!

This was made from a 4xAA battery holder (from who-knows-what old device), and with 3 batteries delivering the proper voltage, there's space for mounting the switch in the 4th battery space. Turns out to be passably comfortable when held also...

It's a software program that overrides some features and adds features to Canon's firmware.

USB red wire = ~5v positive
USB black wire = negative

I posted this because it's an important bit of info about CHDK that I couldn't find anywhere else on UHH.
Here's the CHDK Wiki page for the source info: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/USB_Remote_Cable
