Well, my conversion from Nikon to Sony mirrorless is complete. Sold all my Nikon stuff including the D500 and the D850, D810 and other miscellaneous camera plus Nikon glass for about $20,000. All for the A7Riv, battery grip, 24mm GM1.4, 55mm G1.8 and 85mm G1.8. Trying to decide what other 1 or 2 lenses to get. Maybe the 135mm GM.
Sold all my stuff between here and KEH. I'm very impressed with KEH. They paid me more than the original quotes! I had originally bought the Sony A7iii but decided it wasn't enough camera for me. I do miss my 850 and 500 but believe I made the right decision. But I've got something like 10 to 12k in my pocket that I didn't have yesterday. Plus, I believe, a nice new camera setup.

Keep in mind that Sigma is now producing FE Sony mount Art Lenses. These excellent third party lenses will be less than the G-Master lenses. The G-Master 24-70mm is among the very best. The Sony battery fast drain problem has been resolved with Sony's New longer lasting battery. Kudos to KEH in selling your previous Gear. I hope you enjoy your new 61 megapixels Sony full frame mirrorless camera.

Congratulations. Sounds like you came out on top for now, until Nikon releases a camera above the Sony caliber. LOL. CASH IN POCKET IS A GOOD THING!!

Tamron is also making some awesome lenses for the Sony. I just got the 17-35, F2.8 lens.
While I have several Sony lenses, the Tamron was 1/2 the price of the Sony. I did find the Sigma was a lot heavier for the wide angle, I am happy with the Tamron.

Good Luck. I have the Sony a7iii and I love it. I take pictures at an animal shelter and use on social media so the model was fine.
I had been using a D500 and a D750 and they were getting too heavy for me to carry around the shelter. I wish you good luck and I bet you will get some wonderful shots.

Sorry to hear that, I have heard good and bad on the A7r4. The buffer sucks, but if your not doing sports, I am guessing your not because of your lens choices, you should be OK.
Also, the Sony's that I have tested so far cannot match the tracking that I get from my D500 and D850. I am still testing but for me as a wild life photographer I am tending toward holding on to my Nikon stuff for now.
I do like the ability to view the final image before I shoot with the Sony but I am still testing both systems for wild life photography and have not make up my mind. Sony seems to do well on stationary birds but suffers from tracking them in flight, this is where the Nikon shines SO FAR.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

You did well and KEH is a great dealer. I like the new Sony's as well and have been testing them. I want to try the A9 soon before I make any changes. I also like the little Fuji cropper as well....so much to choose from these days.

I have been a Canon guy since '68 and it's hard to let go when you're that married to something and it had to be rough letting your 850 & 810 and their glass go to sale......wow !

Thanks and Good luck to you.

As was said above I would not ignore Tamron. I have the 17-28 and I have been very impressed. Not sure if you are into zooms, but I think the Sony 70-300 is very much under-rated. I've had great luck with it. I converted from Canon - the learning curve is steep but its amazing what the Sonys can do. I have the a7Riii. Good luck with your new set-up.

Just to make sure: FE fits both full frame AND APS-C cameras: Correct?

Enjoy your new Sony and the primes you have selected so far. I tested the Tamron 28-75 the other day with my A7iii, and was impressed with it's sharpness, quick focus, and light touch. Stay away from the 24-70 Zeiss lens, but the Zeiss 16-35 is a winner. Have not tried the "G-Master" series yet, but the 24-105 is fairly good. Had it, sold it and yet may get another. I also give a thumbs up on the 70-300 "G" lens.

Yes I agree with the buffer limitation. But at 73 and some current disabilities I believe this was a good choice for the future. And the ergonomics of this camera are excellent for me.

I'm liking the 16-35. And that may be it for me for a while with lenses. Thanks for all the comments. Appreciate it very much
