When I was at the wall in D.C. those many years ago, a friend of mine was standing behind me during that beautiful autumn sunrise and took a photo of me rubbing the wall.
I might see that photo a couple of times a year. It always brings back the feelings I had that day.
I look forward to being there in the park in Stephenville this Saturday. Hope we have a great sunrise.
They have a parade honoring veterans and first responders in Stephenville on Saturday. Hope it is a nice day for all.

I hope you will have photos to share. I haven’t seen the traveling wall.

Carol, I am the wife of an Air Force vet that was assigned to SE Asia twice. Visiting that wall can be difficult, but also, we can't forget the sacrifice of those men and women. Thanks for posting these excellent images. The Wall is so simple, but so powerful.

Thanks for posting those shots of “The Wall.” Brings back memories. And the second photo is stunning. Including the Washington Monument in it was sheer genius. Really tells a story. Great job.

There is a very somber area at one end of the Mall in Washington. Yesterday, I posted pictures of the Korean War Memorial. It is situated next to the Lincoln Memorial. We felt honored to see a large group of veterans on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. They had flown to DC on a Flight of Remembrance to see the memorials that honored their service as well as a few other inspiring sights. Directly beyond the Lincoln Memorial is the Vietnam War Memorial - The Wall. The atmosphere at The Wall is somber and respectful. Even young children seem to sense this and walk quietly with their families.

Looking at these shots and thinking about their meaning as I write this post, I feel filled with pride and thankfulness.

You certainly caught the art of the Vietnam War Wall memorial. The feeling is always intense. And you have put that feeling in your photos. Thanks. We need to be reminded more often of what the consequences of war are. To help us think of better ways to solve our problems.

For a person of my age, having graduated in 1968 from high school, and being a part of the draft lottery, it is the monument in D.C. that affects me the most, as I lost some high school classmates in Vietnam. The Vietnam War veterans as a group were probably the least appreciated veterans. Now veterans are treated like gods in many respects. I had a college roommate who was in Vietnam for two years and he would NEVER talk about it, even when drunk. There is a traveling version of the wall that is very good which I saw once in Seattle. Nice images.

Thanks, I've been to the wall, served with many of those engraved in it. At first it received a lot of negative publicity, people finally came to understand it. Very moving. I lost about 1/3 of my Infantry OCS class in Nam, many others died later from PTSD effects. Those names are not on the wall.
