This work every year. Adding your age to your birthdate will always equal the current year.

my birthday = 10/6/50
1950 + 69 = 2019
but last year
1950 + 68 =2018
my sons birthday = 8/6/1988
1988 + 33 = 2021
in 1997 his age was 9
1988 + 9 = 1997

The result is just the persons birth year plus their age. works for any body any year

It is not your current age but the age you turn that year - in the example posted, you could be 54 or 55 years old if born in 1964. This is simple math. Pretty easy to explain.

The first time I saw this I showed it to a couple of friends to see if they’d “get it”. I got a couple of replies that were like “wow”, “that’s amazing”, etc.. I also showed it to a nine year old boy I know who read it and said: “that’s how you know how old you are. You subtract the year you were born from this year.”
There’s a message in there somewhere😊

I found another one. Take the current year and subtract your age and you get your year of birth. They still trying to figure out how that is using our best super computers at MIT.

Some people are quick to respond and slow to get the joke I guess.

Of course!  No mystery there.  You add the year you were born to your current age, and you get the current year.  Duh!

There are lots of puzzlers like that where you add, multiply, and divide, and everyone gets the same answer.

I’m not positive that your sons age would be 33 if he was born in 1988

Right. I came up with him being 31. Or he was born in 1986. Or dieseldave is doing the calculation for 2021.

I’d say your birthday is still to come this year.
It works with the age you are or will be in the current year. It’s merely adding your age to the year you were born to come up with the current year.

I was also born in 1947...in May...and I’m 72=2019.
