I'm a retired climber and I never met a fellow climber that had any kind of death wish or wanted to risk their lives. It's all about knowing what you are doing and then it becomes very safe!

Brent I have known two climbers. Both are both now retired. Agree that they were professional and as safe as possible. One was a fireman. He is now 70 and one of the healthiest, strongest guys I have ever met. Cheers to a healthy life and safe in all things. Especially out taking photos. :)

All of your shots are spectacular. I have come to believe you always do such a great job. The photo that I love the most is the night shot. I wonder if someone needs to "borrow a cup of sugar" while on the side of the rock at night. I hope none are sleep walkers.

Your surfer going over the falls just made my heart skip a beat. Holy Cow!!! I am glad I didn't see the splat at the bottom of the falls.

Thank you for letting me enjoy your photos.

I appreciate your kind words Flyerace. If you look at the night shot on the left you will see a stack of headlamps all in a row. My guess is they are all on the same climbing route. Have you ever seen the movie called "Free Solo"? It's all about Alex Hanold and his quest to free solo El Capitan (no ropes). It's a great movie and you don't have to be a climber to appreciate it. The stack of headlamps I believe is the route that Alex climbed.
I'm glad my photo of the surfer going over the falls moved you! If a reaction is accomplished from viewing a photo then my goal is secure!

Great set! We love Yosemite. You are right about the photo opportunities. And it is always changing and seasonal. When I was a kid (60 er uh years ago...) my 4th grade teacher's wife would go to Yosemite for the summer and oil paint every possible aspect in the park. Her paintings are classics.

On another note, the old wagon photo reminds me of a wagon I took a photo of down here in Southern California while shooting a wedding. They have to be same vintage if not made by the same manufacturer. The green color is almost identical as is the patina.

Jim, it's interesting that your 4th grade teacher would do oil painting in the park. I'm an artist and also did a watercolor of a scene there. Want to see it? I'm an artist first and a photographer second.......it really helps in composition with my background.
Nice photo of the wagon. Thanks for posting it.

Brent,
Thank you. Would love to see your painting!

Recently had a lady ask me for a copy of a photo I took of Haleakala Crater. She painted the crater based on the photo. I wish I were that talented.

Beautiful! I like it. It captures the simple brilliance of Yosemite with the colors and strength of the valley. Great job.

Beautiful series of photos of Yosemite that tourists don't usually consider. Love the #2 of mountain campers. Knew there was a reason I never tackled lower Yosemite in my younger days. Congrats!!!!

Thanks Jim. As you can tell, I took an artist's liberty and enhanced the colors. I think it makes the painting kind of happy looking! LOL

Thanks hiker60. By your avatar I would guess that you have been backpacking and I assume you have backpacked Yosemite. My wife and I have explored most of the trails in tuolumne meadows in Yosemite. AWESOME EXPERIENCES!!!!

The avatar self portrait was taken at Summit Creek, just west of Mackay reservoir. Up here on a cold, windy night wanting to take night shots of the sky; clouds moved in. No stars; no sky. From this summit, one can look north, north east to Mt. Borah (12,662 feet) which is Idaho's tallest peak. And yes I've hike most of upper Yosemite.

Awesome!!!!! I’m sure you have lots of fond memories in the mountains. Maybe even some good bear stories too!!
