These Monk "Parakeets" ( which are really a small Parrot!) have been teasing me for several years now ! They are quite elusive EXCEPT when the Seagrapes ripen - and it has taken me awhile to figure this out !
They are native to Central and South America but like it here in Florida also !
What makes this image special for me is it shows one with complete body showing in their prime habitat eating their favorite food !
This image is full frame - no crop. Canon 80D and Canon 400 prime from monopod. I wanted as low as possible ISO commensurate with good judgement for blurring - as the bird was under tree canopy mostly - 1/350, f5.6, 500 ISO. As always, shot as JPEG and PP in Elements 9 on my XP computer and pixel reduced here for viewing.

Larry, beautful capture and the details you gave helps understand why it is so great.

Nice catch of an elusive subject!
Great shot. They are also known as Quaker Parrots. I have one as a pet and he talks up a storm. Have you located their nesting site? They are quite social birds and build huge communal nests for fairly large colonies. Florida's mild climate is perfect for these little guys and they like to build their nests on the power poles. The local power companies have long ago adopted a humane way of dealing with this in cooperation with local bird societies. Here is a photo of my pal Mickey.
