I'm with n3eg, but the lens would have to weigh less than a pound, and the camera under 18 oz. with battery included...

A take off on the question "Your Favorite Camera" You can only have one camera, you can all the lenses you want to go with that camera. Money is no problem. Remember this camera is the only one you can have for the rest of your life. Something happens to the camera, no replacement.

More than likely,...My Pentax Full-Frame “K-1”, cuz I have so many k-mount lenses, and this camera is a true TREASURE!!!

That’s about as important as asking “how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.”
None of us knows what new technology may be right around the corner - and it may force us to consider a new camera. If we need not consider money and time to learn a new camera, why not always replace when something better appears?

So the camera you used in 1970 you should still be using? It is harder to get film these days and harder to find a good lab to do the developing.

Camera technology improves every year. Even the DSLR you bought back in 2003 is a bit dated by now and could use an upgrade.

Yes, I am using pre 1970 camera now. It a Retina IIIC, use it yesterday to take a picture of a tree in my back yard. You hit the nail on the head about the problem DSLR cameras and technology. No upgrade, what you have is it.

What is the problem?
The OP amply asked the question which camera would one chose to use exclusively for the rest of one’s life.
Contribute if you want, but don’t make it more complicated with profound and unwarranted analysis.

That is what I am asking in the question. You answer the question, thank you.

So I repeat. Altho I do know my ultimate

not-really-a-question in the opening post.

You want substantive replies ? OK then.
Replying ONLY as to choosing a camera
as my ONLY camera [but ignoring crazy
aspects of the OP query] I can offer this:

My strictly enforced one camera will NOT
be chosen solely for it's features, image
quality, and-or versatility. Those things
all matter to me, but I'd compromise on
every one of them for ergonomics, as in
portability, "friendliness", and such. Thaz
how I make my choice. But I'm not naive
enuf to actually name my choice ;-)

We have had countless thread about that
"eternal question" already. What sets this
one apart is the addition of unanswerable
and even unaddressable qualifiers.

Y are there so many people that get their PANTYS-IN-A-TIGHT-WAD on the forum? Now there’s a REAL QUESTION, In QUESTION FORM. ARE you comfortable with your condescending, tight-ass behavior? KINDA know-it-all?? GET A GRIP!!

Leica SL or a Hasselblad H series. Depending on how long I think I will shoot marathons. I might lean to the Leica for general durability.

You wrote "new Technology may be right around the corner." that problem with DSLR cameras. And because of that I should not have ask question "One Camera Only" when dealing with DSLR cameras, because there is no answer, one is dealing with the unknown.

The anal among us have made the OP’s question too hard (for them). Privately, I have a problem with commitment, so I have no answer. 😏

If you don't allow to replace the camera when it's broken beyond repair I would go for something like this
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/31323-REG/Linhof_000097_4x5_Kardan_Master_GTL_AMS.html

Since I can buy a lot of lenses and the only problem I can forsee is the shutter which is mounted on the lenses.
