You strayed away from your normal route when you made the decision to turn the steering wheel

To those that choose to stick with your delusion of luck, knock yourselves out.

Even though I've led you to water, I can't make you drink.

No luck for you bro... i was not driving

I really believe that one can not be a photographer without a camera.

Who can have a positive attitude with inferior equipment?

Me, I've used broken gear since the 70's and I've been perfectly happy with the images I'm achieving

I bet you a dollar someone made a conscious decision to turn
the steering wheel though.

No luck for you either... not because you "miscued",
but because of its lack of existence my friend.

I think I have photographic memory but still I can't be a photographer. I can't draw or describe what I have in my mind well enough for others like a photographic image can.

Its a combo; but I have to admit on more than one occasion if I nailed a shot there would be one idiot that would say "you must have a really great camera." Yep I just left the camera there while I waited in the car for a couple of hours until the camera took the shot.

Wrong again. There is no steering wheel involved there. No luck for you. I win a dollar

You can have gear out the wazoo, but if you don't have the eye, you won't be a photorapher.

There are no rules for good photographs, great photographs have just one: the camera used was better than yours.

Very few people have mentioned the real factor that makes a difference to a photograph and the clue is in the name photograph or painting with light.

It's the light that matters, above everything else, cameras can alter the limits of what lightwill work and it takes a photographer to work the light. But bad light will spoil pretty much every photograph.

Granted, there is no luck for me, or anybody else as luck does not exist.

My point was; a conscious decision was made
to alter the route.
Whether it was a steering wheel, handlebars or
your feet if you were walking is almost irrelevant to that.

However as I assumed you were driving, which was an error
on my part, I will pay you the dollar.
PM me your address and I will post it to you.

So Wallen, by what means, pray tell? did
you "stray(ed) away from" your "normal route"?

Mostly what one hears from photographers, i.e., pro, enthusiast and neophytes, is that the equipment doesn't matter; its the photographer.

Then one has to ask, how many cameras, lenses, flashes, accessories, etc., do you have? Or what cameras or equipment do you lust after?

I think the evidence suggests that gear does matter, although it may not be most important. A skilled lumberjack with an axe will not compete with a man/woman who knows how to use a chain saw.

no but he could beat them out with a cheaper chain saw.

the point is that a great photographer with a good eye and a good camera ,will produce better work than a so so photographer with a great camera.
in hi-school I had a $70.00 run of the mill trumpet, a real good trumpeter who used a $500.00 trumpet made mine sound like a $250.00 one.
