skipwv Loc: West Virginia

US Forest Road in the Dolly Sods Wilderness in West Virginia. Elevation is about 4,500 feet and the climate is similar to Canada rather than Mid-Atlantic. Notice the "flagged" trees, where the top branches grown only on the east (right) side because of constant winds. It's a remote area but well worth the drive up.

Good one skip nearly identical trek we took last weekend. Drove what was known as the "Devils Elbow" in PA. Your pic reminds me of the service road in WV nearest to the new river gorge.

Thank you! There are many similarly attractive roads in the middle Appalachians (specifically the Alleghenies for Dolly Sods).
