The Villages Florida - An Abstract

The Father of a very good friend of ours likes to do watercolor drawings as a hobby. His children have been trying for years to get him to realize just how talented he is but he is far to modest to think his work has any value to anyone but him. I asked if I could post this photo of his latest drawing and was told it’s ok with him. His name is Bill (William) Rentz and he lives in The Villages in Florida. I’m not sure where that is but folks from Florida May.
This piece is titled after his residence.
Let us know what you think.

I think this is marvelous and Bill is certainly very talented. He may not be interested in selling his work but he certainly could. This piece has a peaceful aura about it...almost like an open air cathedral. I have a spot in my house for it!

As Jon Stewart said: "The Villages is that place in Florida that has so many old people that people in Florida call it "That place with so many old people"....

The Villages is an amazing place. Growth there is unbelievable. Gated communities connected by golf cart paths. One path came to a four lane road so they built a cart bridge over the road. Last I heard they had over 100,000 people and were closing houses over 200 a month. It was 450 a month last year but it's "slowing down" a bit.
Anybody considering retirement should check it out.

I like the painting. Good technique. He understands watercolor. All the strokes show a deliberate spontaneity and conviction. The piece is optimistic and upbeat in its composition.

For the longest time, I felt my work was not worth selling. Someone told me the bare truth...I was afraid of making a name for myself as an artist, until a buyer, who thought my work was really great, commissioned me to do two large, 30x40 paintings of my photography.
It sounds weird, but maybe this artist feels the same thing. He is afraid of becoming a recognized artist. In my modest opinion, if this image is indicitave of his work, BY ALL MEANS get him to a gallery!!!

I think it is super! I like the swirls that give it movement -- not a static piece! This is one of those paintings that could fall by the wayside or sell for 100,000.00. My guess is that in the right gallery like in NYC, this could bring a nice price.
