Plug-ins By PSE's Backdoor

The simple instruction install or reinstall and the plugin will be in PSE works but is a real problem at times. Does it work, well yes and no, at times we do not have the source of an old plugin. I went into C:Programs/Adobe and could not find a file with plugins in it tho it was labeled plugins. I figured to just put the old plugin there and it would work... but wrong!!

Flaming pear gives directions of how to install by what I titled the backdoor. I really like their free Archived programs for Color swap in IR work. Yes, I know any person worth their salt would go into sliders in PS and fight for Blue Red swap; me I am lazy and use the FlamingPear free program and just click and the work is done... magic is better than hard work.

Back to the subject at hand, installing a plugin into PSE the easy way. You know how to drag old file and drop or copy and paste but where should they go ... since the obvious programs/PSE/plugin file is not the correct place. Obvious is elsewhere and NOT obvious.

Flaming Pear instructions: If new and zipped, download and open with windows explorer one of the choices with the downloading. So now where to put it. Aaaa-Ha, trick it is not in Adobe/PSE file. Rather the correct door is C:Program/Common Files/Adobe/plug-ins. Drag and drop the opened [in windows explorer folder on desk top] file into the plug-ins folder by the "common file route". Next time you open PSE as if by magic the plugin will be there.

Don, how do I find the free plugins and how do I find the instructions. Oh Don sorry, but if I had given you a link it this would have been in links and few would see it. I assume this how to is a general problem for installing old plugins into PSE. You will find them both at flamingpear.com/free-trials.html#freebies The how to install is upper left click on that.

I use a program with PSE 11, called elements+. It now has goodies+ that you can just drop the file on that screen icon and it puts the plugin where it is supposed to go in PSE. I forget how much it was but it wasn't much. I used it to install Kolari Vision's False Colors for IR.
I installed some other plugins on my old computer manually but don't remember the path any more, but remember it was a bitch to find!
