Thank you BigDaddy for your thoughts and comments. RBorud

No thank you. Your link led me to more of Jamie Windsor's videos, specifically the "6 things you should know about editing:

Fantastic. I immediately subscribed to his channel, and referenced him in the Post_processing Forum.
His video's, at least these two are super, well spoken and excellent content. Too many youtuber's talk way too fast, this guy knows his stuff, and is intent on passing it on to the viewer.

nikonnate I am adding a little tutorial about dynamic range and creativity. I see most peoples likes are predictable. All in this thread may find this useful. Please just look and enjoy even if you do not agree.
Thanks RBorud

My mom/ new grandma stopped by over the weekend on a dreary afternoon so the natural colors were a little on the cool side, but at one point, sitting in front of the window, I noticed my 2-month-old peacefully passed out on Gramma's chest. I took a snap, softened it a bit and warmed it up, and I have to admit I really like it. Interestingly, reception to it on IG and the socials has been a little more tepid than I would have expected. Not to say I'm hunting for likes (I'm really not, honest) but I expected a little more response - people generally love babies after all

My first instinct is that I overdid the PP a little. I'm getting back in to the post-processing thing after a few years out so I feel like I'm still getting my eye back. What are the group thoughts on the before and after?

The image OOC is better, IMHO, than the PP. I have 2 questions. Why are you using a JPEG and not a RAW (NEF) image for PP, especially since you’re are using a D850 camera?

Secondly, have you considered a monochrome image?

I only shoot RAW these days, at this time I was shooting a combo because my laptop was crap and could hardly open a big JPG let alone do any significant PP work. I don't edit JPGs, others did.

As for monochrome, I had not, but this is what it looks like...

Thanks. I'm looking forward to printing a big copy of it for a Christmas present.
