Lwhite61, to me, crop is very important. This is an example of just enough foreground and a well-posed story. I can hear that water now. The added story of the turning leaves is an added spice.
The Cropoholic in me said.. the right side edge yellow has to go it detracts from the yellow bush and from the waterfall.

LWhite, You did great... you got the subject and technique right on.. Yep, easy for me to critique photos of others, takes me a long time to see my own photos. For submission to Camera Club, I would tape the first rendition of the photo over my Mr. Coffee Steamer and let Mr. Coffee inspire me as the Dark Roast French Blend Coffee brewed [hipnotic aroma]. I would circle and write on the photo areas that bothered me. Edit... print... put back on the cabinet door and let Mr Coffee critique again.
All my prints are for 8x10 at times I resize the not quite 8x10 image and no one notices the trees being a tad taller. Once I removed the ears memorializing one of the departed club members... oh! his ears were so large... like Disney's Dumbo, he could fly with those ears ... so ... I confess, I cloned them off.. full Left one and tip peeking out of the right one. No one noticed and the photo got reward status.
