Amazing shots. Intrigued by the legend of the white bears. So that means the last ice age wasn't that far behind us and we have been experiencing global warming since then all along.

Spirit Bears (Kermode Bears) result from a double recessive gene in the DNA of about half of the black bears in the Great Bear Rainforest. Roughly ten percent of the black bears in this area in west central British Columbia are born white or cream coloured. In every other sense they are genetically identical to their black brothers (or mothers or fathers). A black bear can have a white cub and a white bear can have a black cub. According to the Git Ga'at people's legend, the Creator (Raven) made every tenth bear white to remind the people of the hardships when the world was white. (Presumably referring to the last ice age)

Thanks for the great pics and the background story!
The Spirit Bears of the Great Bear rainforest are such special creatures and every one of your photos exemplified them perfectly. I believe that there are only about 100 in existence. Did you participate in a dedicated photo tour with a First Nation guide?

WOW Lovely images of bears !!! Thank you for sharing. Shang
Nice shots and I learned something, thanks.
Great captures and an interesting narrative - thanks!
Great set, and story too.
Stunning photos Don. Thanks for the heads-up that you had posted these. I certainly would not have wanted to miss them. I don't know if they are called Spirit bears because they are white, or seeing them in person is a spiritual experience. Never, tire of seeing photos of them either and yours are spectacular. Thanks, John
