Nice set. Are they passing through or stay for winter?

Thanks for the comments and for viewing. The Uinta Basin and Green River area has a surprising amount of wildlife ...once you learn where and when to look. The DWR explained that the Sandhill Cranes are migratory with the greatest numbers found in this area from mid September to early October. Once ice starts forming on the Green River, most move south. I think there are a few in the area much longer. I don't know when the peak season is in the spring.

Outstanding set, Steve! Great BIF work.

UTMike, Thanks for looking and the comment. I love to try BIF whenever I can.....and every once in a while I get a few keepers. I've learned a lot from Steve Perry.

imagemeister, Thanks. The area along the Green River has much more wildlife than I was expecting. The birds and animals are definitely out in the early morning.

We saw hundreds (perhaps thousands) of Sandhill Cranes and a surprising number of Elk, Pronghorns, Deer, Canadian Geese and other birds as part of a Greater Sandhill Crane viewing event, last week, sponsored by the DWR (Department of Wildlife Resources) of Utah. Most of what we saw was farther away than I would have liked, but I was pleased with some of the images. The wildlife was along the Green River on farms near Dinosaur National Monument and Ouray National Wildlife Refuge. It was quite a treat to see this much wildlife in just a few hours!

Thanks. I have photographed them in central CA, Arizona and New Mexico in winter. Utah is probably a stop over on their way down south.
