If this thing was not so expensive I used for hand gun target practice at 50 yards ; also my Granddaughter wants it. Any help would be great. It has jumped 4 times while typing this.

Any chance you are brushing the touchpad (I used to do that)?

Do a restart.

I could be brushing the touchpad, the table is higher than I like. But I thought I had disabled it on the touchpad settings because I have a wireless mouse attached.

Double check that.

My wife who is stubborn, clumsy and refuses to accept the fact that she could take an instrument that weighs less than 3lbs, and reposition it and herself to where this does not occur simply places a card over the touch pad. Having my BT mouse attached does not automatically cancel the pad. If there is a selection to disable the pad recheck it.

There is an app on the net, type jumping curser, download it and it works on the background. I used it until I upgraded machines. Works pretty good.

You might also try cleaning the mouse. I had the jumping problem several years ago, and cleaning it stopped the problem.

Don't play Jack Lalanne in the background.

I had a laptop that used to do that. It would jump backwards and whatever I was typing would end up in the wrong spot. Tried everything imaginable to fix it, but ended up buying a wireless keyboard and mouse that I like better than the laptop keyboard.

Check your sensitivity settings in system preferences.

Call (800) 265-2273 and ask Apple. They are in now.

I covered the touchpad with a piece of cardboard and didn't have the problem anymore. Proved I was brushing tit unknowingly.

I am in Croatia and the 800 numbers don't work most of the time. I know that I am hitting the touchpad and have made the setting "ignore incorrect touchpad motions" or something similar but that did not help.
I should have used this cursed laptop more before I left on the 6 week vacation to Europe where support is difficult to find.

Then try to make the tech pad less sensitive under System Preferences
