The 3rd image (Sept 2017), Quake Lake is a very interesting story. In August of 1959 a large earthquake near Yellowstone caused a massive landslide that created a damn on the Madison River, creating this lake. The landslide killed 28 people who were camping along the banks of the Madison. All of the tree trunks you see along the edge were living trees at the time of the lake formation. They drowned and still remain as ghostly reminders of the tragedy. The slopes are steep here, so only trees near the current shoreline were tall enough to stick up above the water. ( knew I couldn't stop typing after 3 lines, so I put this part here :).
