Don't have a D600 - on my other Nikons, you view the image click on the protect button again, which unprotects, and you can delete it normally by pressing the trashcan button. I don't use RAW, but suspect it is the same.

Seems like a reason to visit your manual and review for your own skills development.

I did that the other day and too lazy to look up how to unprotect it. I formated the card and poof, it's gone!

The answer you are seeking can be found in your camera's manual.

Looking at a manual to see how to delete an image on your camera does not sound like a "funny" idea at all. What do you find wrong with CHG-CANON's response?

Thou shall not judge- hey if you don't want to provide an answer to questions here at the forum that you feel are lazy, stupid, whatever, then don't. Your silence would be greatly appreciated!

I went to the manual, did not find the answer, so I am guessing that since no one here has popped with the answer , no one knows... I will get it fixed and taken care of sometime ; not the end of the world.

I don't have a d600. I have a d7500 so I hesitated to answer your question directly as it may not be the same. On the back of the d7500 camera along the left side of the LCD screen about midway down there is a protect button. When you are in review mode you can press that button and the image that you have up on the screen will be protected. You do the same thing in review mode to remove it. It may be that you don't have that button and you might have to go to the review (delete) menu to toggle it on and off. I hope that helps. The protect feature is not that intuitive if you don't know what to look for. If that doesn't help you can goggle your question and there are sure to be many hits to answer your question.

Format the memory card in camera and the files should disappear. You should always format your cards in camera after downloading your photos. That works with my Nikons. If formatting in camera doesn't work, format the card in your computer and then format it again in camera.

This is essentially the answer. On the D600 left of the LCD about half way down is the WB button. It also serves as the protect button when your image is on the lcd. The button has a question mark a slash and an image of a key.
Bring up the image and press that button. The image will no longer be protected.

What happens when you format the card in the camera?
