The bird And it’s reflection are the star of the shot . A simple crop around that would imho make for a strong shot.

Thanks for looking, Frank. Did you see KT's version above?

That’s what I had in mind when I made the suggestion
#1 just feels right Mike.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Went to Hilton Head Island last week. Visited the Pickney Island National Wildlife Refuge. On the walk in to the Ibis Pond (very few photo ops this time of year), I came across this scene. #1 is the original, which I like, but I decided to try to improve it by cropping (the curse of many MP). I would appreciate your thoughts on which one is better or, if you are so inclined, feel free to download #1 and show me how you would do it.
Thanks for your time.
UTMike, Nice photo.
I like the original, the two marsh grass rows have exactly the same shape and then you see the bird.
Very cool!

Thanks for those kind words.
Especially with wildlife, I usually like to include the environment in which they are located, and so I like #1 because you see an environment, and then you locate the bird within that environment. u4ea commented on the interesting similarity of the two rows of marsh grasses, and I would not want to lose that part of the photo. I cropped and cloned out what may have been underwater roots which artBob referred to as "snakes." I agree with him that they were a distraction. The purple stalks in the foreground add to the total environment, pick up the color of the marsh grass in the background, and, I think, add interest to the composition.
(I went back to look at the original three photographs, and I realize that my version now resembles #3.)
