iTunes does a lot of things in the background without telling you, and it will use a lot of your resources and slow your computer down. The best media player I have found is VLC, and I haven't found anything yet that it won't play and it is free.

Haven't noticed any slow-down. I don't use it a lot either.

Does Windows 10 have some sort of Windows Media version? For the money they get for Windows you'd think that they'd keep Windows Media up to date. Not all of us have iphones or whatever it is you need to download music.

Yes it does--at least I am using it on Windows 10 Pro just fine. I believe the most recent version (which as others mentioned dates back a while) is version 12. If I recall correctly, I googled it and learned that it was already within Windows 10 but hidden. The site provided easy instructions on how to find and activate it.
I use Windows Media Player all the time--I much prefer it to Itunes for my purposes. I frequently make mix CDs to send to my daughter across the country and she loves it. I use Amazon Music to find and buy new music, and when it downloads, it automatically loads into the WMP library in addition to the Amazon Music library. Actually, my experience differs a bit from that of Bison Bud. Most of the time I continue to get the relevant album and track information, including graphics, whether I rip from a CD or download through Amazon Music. It is only rarely that it doesn't retrieve such info---it seems to me to be mainly when the music is fairly old or less-well-known
Thanks Bison Bud for the info on MusicBee, I will look into it as well.

Those USB Turntables are rubbish
Recently converted about 80 Vinyl LP, to digital.
I used a regular turntable and a program called "Vinyl Studio" by Alpine Soft.
Using this is pretty straight forward. It will (Thru an associated program) allow you to find and download the correct Album cover. You can send the files to "Itunes" with the Album cover detail

It depends on the acquisition software that came with the turntable. Some allow you to set the sampling rate and a couple of other options to control the conversion quality.
Did Vinyl Studio come with a box that had the A-D converter in it? Or do you use the line-in connector on the computer.

Just the software. Connected directly to "Mic" input on computer.
Really fast and easy once you get used to it
